The variety belongs to the late-ripening group, requiring 155–160 days to reach technical maturity with a sum of active temperatures of 2950–3000 °C. The vines are vigorous; the crown is pyramidal in shape with vertically growing shoots.

The berries are medium-sized, round or oval, golden-yellow in color with a bronze tan. The pulp is juicy, and the skin is firm. The variety is capable of accumulating sugars up to 25–30% while maintaining acidity at a level of 7–10 g/l.

Rkatsyteli is relatively frost-resistant, possesses medium resistance to downy mildew and relative resistance to phylloxera, but is weakly resistant to drought and powdery mildew, and is susceptible to grey mold, spider mites, and the European grapevine moth.
