Rizling vlašský is an old variety not related to Riesling. Its origin is not precisely determined; hypotheses point to French or Balkan roots. The vine growth vigor is medium; the variety has good winter hardiness and medium resistance to diseases.

The leaves are medium-sized, three- or five-lobed with a serrated margin. The clusters are medium-sized, often winged, and dense. The berries are small or medium, rounded, light green in color with dark spots, and covered with a thin but firm skin.

Wines from this variety are characterized by high acidity and freshness. With proper ripening, the aroma exhibits notes of meadow flowers, citrus, bitter almond, honey, or raisins. The variety is used to create varietal wines, blends, sparkling wines, as well as ice wines and straw wines.
