The variety is a hybrid of American grape species, selected at the end of the 19th century from open-pollinated seedlings of the Riparia x Rupestris 101-14 rootstock. The plant has great vigor, but has a restraining effect on the shoot development of the cultivated varieties grafted onto it.

The leaves of the variety are medium-sized, wedge-shaped, weakly dissected or almost entire, with a wide open vaulted petiolar sinus. Unripe shoots are glabrous, have a wine-red color; shoot ripening is characterized as very good. The flower is functionally male.

The variety is not intended for berry production. It possesses high compatibility with scions, ensuring high-quality tissue fusion at the graft union. It is characterized by adaptability to various soil types, good rooting ability of cuttings, and resistance to fungal diseases.
