The origin of the variety is linked either to a seedling of wild grapes or to a natural cross between the Heunisch and Traminer varieties. The variety is late-ripening: berry softening occurs at the end of August, and harvest begins after mid-October.

The leaves are of medium size. The berries are small or medium, approximately 13 mm in diameter, and round in shape. Upon ripening, the berries develop a golden-brown blush with dark spots on the sun-exposed side. Wines made from this variety are noted for their fresh acidity and notes of linden blossom, apple, apricot, and peach.
