The Rojal Tinta variety is used for wine production. Its main cultivation region is Castilla-La Mancha; the variety is also mentioned in the context of historical plantings in the Rioja Alavesa region. The cultivation areas of the variety have had a downward trend in recent decades.
Rojal Tinta has a number of synonyms, including De Rosa, Rojal and Royal. The variety should be distinguished from Jami Negro and Coloraíllo, which are sometimes mistakenly identified with this variety. Detailed agrotechnical and morphological characteristics are not presented in the publications.
