The variety is a natural mutation of the classic Chardonnay variety. The shape of the clusters and berries is identical to white Chardonnay, however, upon ripening, the skin of the berries acquires a pink hue.

A variety of medium maturity group with low yield, reaching about 15 000 kg/ha. Due to increased resistance to grey mold Botrytis cinerea, harvesting is possible 1–2 weeks later than the classic variety.

Rosa Chardonnay belongs to wine varieties. Despite the color of the skin, it is used to produce white wines, which are distinguished by full body, complexity, and aromas of tropical fruits; the variety is also suitable for the production of sparkling wines.
