The variety belongs to the oldest cultivars of the Vitis vinifera species. It is a wine grape whose berries have a round shape and a flesh-red color. The plant's leaf is medium-sized, five-lobed, deeply incised, with sharp serrations. The clusters are medium, conical, and their density varies from loose to compact.

The variety is demanding regarding growing conditions and requires warm and well-ventilated sites. It shows high sensitivity to fungal diseases, especially powdery mildew and Botrytis, and is also susceptible to late spring frosts. Due to sensitivity during the flowering period, the yield of the variety can be unstable.

Wine from this variety is characterized by a pronounced muscat bouquet with floral notes, often with hints of elderberry. In modern winemaking practice, it is used primarily to obtain dry wines with pronounced acidity.
