The variety originates from the Thermenregion in Lower Austria and received its name due to the characteristic copper-red tips of the shoots. It is a historical indigenous variety intended for the production of high-quality dry and late-harvest sweet wines.
The vines of the variety have medium vigor. The leaves are medium-sized, heart-shaped, deeply lobed, with cobwebby pubescence on the underside and an open petiolar sinus. Clusters are medium, conical in shape, and the berries have a greenish-yellow color.
The variety is distinguished by its ability to accumulate sugar while maintaining good acidity. Wines from this grape are characterized by notes of peach, pear, exotic fruits, almond, and spices. The harvest takes place at the end of September — beginning of October.
