The variety belongs to the late maturity group, with a growing season from bud burst to technical maturity of 150–160 days. The vines are medium-vigorous, with round or ovate 3–5-lobed leaves. The clusters are medium-sized, broadly conical in shape, and often branched and loose.

The berries are medium-sized, oval-shaped, and dark blue in color with a pronounced waxy bloom. The variety possesses relatively high drought tolerance and comparative cold hardiness; however, it is characterized by weak resistance to fungal diseases, such as downy mildew and powdery mildew.

Sharavi is a teinturier variety: intensely colored juice is contained in both the skin and the pulp of the fruits. The grapes are used for making a wide range of red wines, including varietal drinks and appellation wines.
