The white wine grape variety Senator, known as a synonym for Frühgipfler, is mentioned in older sources as a mutation of the Silvaner variety. Its other synonyms are Juwel, Lersch I and Monrepos. The connection with the name Heinrich August Lersch is due to the history of the winery where this variety was cultivated, rather than its breeding.

The table hybrid form Senator bred by E. G. Pavlovsky is presumably obtained by crossing the varieties Podarok Zaporozhyu and Maradona or Podarok Zaporozhyu and Shokoladny. There is also a grape hybrid form Senator bred by A. V. Burdak, obtained from the parental pair Talisman and Arcadia.
