The variety originates from Catalonia and was discovered in 2000 near Aiguamúrcia in a vineyard with Parellada vines after being considered extinct since the phylloxera epidemic of the 19th century. The name of the variety is linked to the ruins of the Castell de Selma, located near the place of its discovery.

Wines from SELMA BLANCA have high acidity, herbal and fruity notes, and are characterized as spicy and lively, with good volume and a long finish.
