The variety is a first-generation hybrid obtained by crossing Vitis vinifera and Vitis rotundifolia. It is used exclusively as a rootstock and is not intended for fruit production.

The plant is a sterile hybrid with male flowers having rudimentary pistils. The variety possesses very high resistance to feeding by the nematode Xiphinema index, but is characterized by low drought tolerance.
