Variety description

The variety is autochthonous to Portugal, presumably originating from the Bucelas region. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and bisexual flowers. The leaf is round, five-lobed, slightly dissected, with a closed petiole sinus and slight pubescence on the underside.

Bunches are medium-sized, conical, and dense. Berries are medium to small, oval-shaped, golden-colored with a thick waxy bloom and thin skin. The flesh is fleshy-juicy, and the flavor is harmonious. The variety is distinguished by a late ripening period and high, stable yields.

The plant possesses extreme resistance to heat and drought, but is susceptible to Botrytis cinerea. Young wines from this variety are dominated by notes of lemon, lime, and green apple. Upon aging, the wines develop aromas of honey, wax, and nuts.
