The variety has an ancient origin and is associated with the Aegean islands. The vine is characterized by high yield and good adaptation to hot conditions. Clusters are medium-sized or small, berries have thin skin of a golden-green color.
The variety is resistant to downy mildew, but extremely sensitive to powdery mildew. Wines made from it possess a mild fruit profile with notes of lemon, apple and apricot, moderate acidity and low alcohol content. During harvest, it is important to observe timing, as over-ripening leads to a significant decrease in acidity.
