Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to the mid-late maturity group and is characterized as having medium or vigorous growth. The bunches are medium or large in size and have high density. The berries are white, round-shaped, with yellow-golden skin and juicy flesh.

The plant possesses resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, tolerates heat and drought well, and withstands frosts down to -15...-18°C. Due to the extreme conditions of Santorini, a low-growing vine training system of the 'kouloura' type is historically used to protect the berries from wind and sun.

The wine grape variety is intended for the production of white wines with pronounced minerality and citrus notes. Due to the volcanic composition of the soils in the variety's homeland, many old vines remain ungrafted.
