The variety belongs to wine grape cultivars. The leaves are medium-sized, five-lobed, dark green in color. The clusters are medium to large in size, conical in shape, and of moderate density. The berries are medium-sized, round, dark blue, almost black in color with a waxy bloom and thin, firm skin.
The variety is demanding regarding climate, preferring Mediterranean conditions with a large number of sunny days. Ripening usually occurs in mid-September. The vine has good productivity but is characterized by sensitivity to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold.
The berry juice is colorless and contains a high amount of sugar with moderate acidity. The wines are distinguished by a deep ruby color, high alcohol content, and aging potential. The aromatic profile is dominated by notes of dark berries, spices, cocoa, and tobacco.
