The variety is a complex interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing the Ugni blanc variety and a descendant of Vitis rotundifolia. The variety is intended for winemaking, primarily for distillation and the production of cognac spirits.

The plant is vigorous with high yield. The ripening period is medium; bud burst occurs slightly earlier than in Ugni blanc. The leaf is rounded, five-lobed, of medium size. The clusters are medium, conical, dense or medium-dense. The berries are medium, rounded, white in color with a waxy bloom and juicy flesh.

The variety possesses complete resistance to oidium and very high resistance to mildew. Cultivation on trellises with short pruning is recommended. In some years, a tendency toward millerandage, that is, the shedding of ovaries, is observed.
