Variety description

The variety is independent and not genetically related to the white grapes Courbu or Gros Courbu. The plant is characterized by young leaves with bronze spots and a shoot tip covered with white down with a carmine tint. Bunches are small, compact, cylindrical or conical in shape. Berries are medium-sized, acquiring a deep blue or black color upon full maturity.

The variety has a late ripening period and is sensitive to fungal diseases, in particular to downy mildew. Wines made from it are characterized by a light color and significant tannin content; historically, the variety was used in blends to give wines a regional character.
