Variety description

The variety is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing the Munson variety with an unidentified variety of the Vitis vinifera species. The vines are characterized by vigorous growth. Clusters are medium, dense, slightly conical in shape with one branch. Berries are medium-sized, round, dark blue in color; the pulp separates easily from the skin.

The variety is characterized by high yield and resistance to fungal diseases, including both types of powdery mildew. However, it is susceptible to phylloxera and frost, withstanding temperature drops down to -15...-18°C, and is also prone to chlorosis. Sugar content of the berries is 18–22.6%, acidity is 8–10 g/l.

It is used for producing technical wines, which are characterized by an intense color, an earthy or faint "foxy" flavor, and sometimes a blackcurrant aroma. Wine from this variety is often classified as ordinary and is used mainly in blends.
