Variety description

The variety is a vigorous plant. Leaves are medium-sized, five-lobed, and dark green. Clusters are medium-sized, cylindro-conical in shape, and often winged. Berries are medium-sized, ellipsoidal, with thin yellow-golden skin covered in bloom.

Cortese is characterized by high and stable yields, which require control to maintain wine quality. The variety is sensitive to Botrytis cinerea and fungal diseases due to the thin skin of the berries. The wines are distinguished by freshness, high acidity, and notes of green apple, peach, lime, melon, and almond.
