The variety is a natural hybrid of Rouge du Pays and an unknown variety, originating from the Aosta Valley. The vines possess great vigor; berry ripening occurs in the first ten days of October. The variety is considered relatively resistant to fungal diseases.

The clusters are small, weighing 150–200 g, cylindrical in shape, and ranging from compact to medium density. The berries are small, round, with thin dark purple skin and a thick waxy bloom. Wine from this variety is distinguished by an intense aromatic profile with notes of black fruit, smoke, and spices.
