The variety has high vigor and requires specific vine training techniques, as the first buds on the shoot are often unfruitful. The leaf is medium-sized, five-lobed. The cluster is large, compact, conical in shape, often with two wings. The berry is medium-sized, round or slightly oval, dark blue with thick skin and a heavy waxy bloom.

A late-ripening variety, it is prone to overcropping, requiring thinning to maintain quality. It is characterized by resistance to grey mold and frost hardiness within the range of -15…-18°C. Wines made from it are characterized by high acidity and low tannin content, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, flowers, and almond. Due to its thick skin, the variety is suitable for the bunch drying process (appassimento).
