The variety has medium-vigour vines with semi-erect shoots, for which short pruning is recommended. Mature leaves are five-lobed, with a bullate surface and a closed petiolar sinus. Clusters are medium-sized, conical in shape, and compact, with large, round, dark violet berries.
The ripening period is medium to medium-late. The variety shows moderate resistance to downy mildew, but is susceptible to grey mold, and its productivity is prone to fluctuations. Wines produced from it are noted for good acidity, moderate tannin and alcohol content, and characteristic peppery tones.
