Variety description

10 August 2026

The Damiatis variety, also known by the synonym Zoumiatiko, is cultivated primarily in the Thrace region, including the Xanthi, Evros, and Serres districts. The grape is characterized by a medium-density cluster and is a rare variety at risk of extinction.

In winemaking, the variety is used for the production of wines, often in blends with other varieties, such as Sauvignon Blanc. Techniques such as aging on lees and in oak barrels are used to improve the structure and aromatic properties of the beverages. The variety is officially classified in the national catalogue of Greece as an independent entry.
