Dafni is a wine grape variety originating from the island of Crete. The vine is characterized by high vigor and yield; the variety is adapted to hot and dry climatic conditions. Genetically, it is an ancient local variety, presumably arising from the hybridization of Ferral and Syriki.
Wine from this variety is characterized by medium body and high acidity. The bouquet is dominated by shades of laurel, mountain herbs, pine, citrus, and tropical fruits. The variety was saved from extinction through the efforts of local producers.
