The variety is a hybrid of the varieties Pinot Noir (Blauer Spätburgunder) and Portugieser (Blauer Portugieser). It belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and is classified as a black-berried variety.

The variety has an exclusively technical purpose for wine production. Notes of ripe red berries, blackberry jelly, floral nuances, and vanilla are noted in the finished product. The wines are characterized by softness, balanced residual sweetness, and subtle acidity.
