The variety is a clonal selection of the ancient Hungarian grape Csókaszőlő. The clusters are small and conical in shape; the berries are small, round, and almost black in color with thick skin and a noticeable waxy bloom.

The plant is characterized by low yield, low sugar accumulation, and sensitivity to diseases. The high acidity of the berries has historically led to the use of the variety in red wine blends.

Wines produced from this clone are characterized by moderate tannin content and juicy notes of red berries and fruits, including cherry, plum, rosehip, and red currant.
