The Dabouki variety (synonyms Barbaroui, Khalili, Salti) is a local indigenous variety that has been cultivated for centuries in Eastern Mediterranean countries. The plant is distinguished by high vigor and resilience in arid conditions. In humid weather, the variety shows sensitivity to fungal diseases, including downy mildew, powdery mildew, and botrytis bunch rot, although it is not prone to berry shriveling or fruit set shedding.
The clusters are large or very large, with moderate density. The berries are large, round, greenish-yellow, with fleshy pulp and thick skin, which ensures good transportability. The yield of the variety is rated as medium. Traditionally, the variety was used for table purposes, but today it is actively used in winemaking, where it produces wines with pronounced minerality, refreshing acidity, and fruit-floral aromas.
