Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to the late-ripening group and has high vigor. Clusters are large and loose, which, along with the thick skin of the berries, contributes to good resistance to fungal diseases. The berries are yellow-green in color and large in size.

The variety is high-yielding, however, it requires strict pruning and cluster control to achieve wine material quality. The wine possesses a moderate alcohol level, fresh acidity, and a specific aroma reminiscent of bay leaf, pine, citrus, and mountain herbs.

It originates from the island of Crete and is the result of natural crossing of the varieties Achladi and Asswad Karech. The variety was practically lost and brought back into cultivation in the last decades.
