Genetically, the variety is the result of crossing Elbling and Muscat Précoce de Saumur. Morphologically, it is characterized by large leaves, clusters of medium density, and yellow-green berries. The tip of the young shoot has heavy pubescence.

The variety has low resistance to winter frosts and fungal diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, and Botrytis. It shows sensitivity to high lime content in the soil and is prone to parthenocarpy following adverse weather conditions during the flowering period.

Wines from Huxelrebe possess a vibrant aroma with hints of mango, passion fruit, and pineapple, as well as a good level of acidity. Due to its capacity for high sugar accumulation, the variety is suitable for late harvest wines, including high-quality dessert types.
