The variety originates from Croatia; the name Bogdanuša translates as "God-given." It belongs to late-ripening varieties and is distinguished by vigorous vine growth. The bunches are medium to large in size, cylindrical-conical in shape, and often moderately loose. The berries are medium, spherical or oval, with a thick skin, acquiring a yellowish-white or golden-yellow hue upon ripening.

The grapes are used primarily for creating white wines, both varietal and as part of blends, as well as for the production of dessert wines. The drinks are characterized by moderate alcohol content, fresh acidity, and aromas of floral notes, quince, anise, and yellow plum.

The variety is considered hardy, but susceptible to grey mold (Botrytis cinerea). In some years, sensitivity to ovary drop and berry shriveling (millerandage) is observed.
