Under the name Imperatore (Emperor), a late-maturing table grape variety is known. It is characterized by vigorous bushes, large clusters, and elongated-oval red berries that possess high keeping quality.
In the commercial sphere, the term Imperatore is applied as a marketing name for premium Italian wines, in the production of which various grape varieties are used. The name is also erroneously associated with the hybrid form Imperatritsa bred by V. M. Kalugin or used as an obsolete local name for the Baresana variety.
