The variety was bred in the first half of the 20th century at the oenological school in Conegliano. The name reflects the clone numbering system adopted by breeder Luigi Manzoni, where the numerical index denotes the position of the vine in the experimental plot.

In winemaking, the variety is used for the production of red wines. Given the limited prevalence of the variety, detailed data on its morphological traits and agrotechnical characteristics are presented fragmentarily in specialized literature.
