Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is of South Italian origin and was formed through natural selection. The plant is characterized by high vigor, good productivity, and adaptation to a hot, arid climate, while demonstrating susceptibility to downy mildew.

Bunches are medium-sized, berries are light green or amber in color with skin of medium density. Upon ripening, the variety is prone to a loss of acidity, therefore the harvest is often carried out at early stages or during the night to maintain freshness.

The purpose of the variety is strictly for winemaking. Wines from Insolia are distinguished by a soft texture, rounded taste, contain tannins in the berry skins, and possess aromas of citrus, white flowers, peach, pear, and nuts.
