The variety is a natural cross of Mantonico bianco and an unknown parent. It is characterized by high vigor, early to mid-season maturity, and good adaptation to a hot Mediterranean climate. It possesses resistance to sunburn, yet is susceptible to downy mildew.
Bunches are medium-sized, berries are light green or amber-colored with medium-thickness skins. The berry skins contain a significant amount of tannins. The variety is traditionally cultivated in the Sicily, Tuscany, Lazio, and Sardinia regions.
Wines from Inzolia are characterized by a soft structure, moderate acidity, and medium body with notes of nuts, citrus, white flowers, peach, pear, and Mediterranean herbs. Due to a tendency to lose acidity during ripening, the harvest is often carried out early in the morning or at night.
