The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and is indigenous to Romanian wine regions, such as Târnave. Iordană frequently serves as a parent form in the breeding of new grape varieties, including Selena and Blasius.
The variety is characterized by its ability to maintain a balance of sugar content and acidity, which makes it promising for the production of high-quality sparkling wines. The accumulation of quality indicators in the berries is traditionally monitored during the August-September period.
