The variety is traditional for the Herzegovina region and is used exclusively as a technical grape for creating blends, where it is valued for its ability to increase sugar content, acidity, and extractivity of the wine. Due to the lack of a pronounced aromatic profile, varietal wine is rarely produced from it.

The plant has a female flower type, therefore it requires proximity to other varieties for pollination. The harvest matures in the third quarter of the year, close to the ripening time of the «Žilavka» variety. Wines containing this grape have a greenish-yellow color and a neutral taste with slight astringency.

The variety is adapted to local conditions, however, it is susceptible to common viral diseases, such as GLRaV-3. It is known by the synonyms Krkochia, Krkochia Chouplyca, Krkoshia, Krkošija Supljica, and Kyrkochia.
