The variety is a wine grape, although it can be consumed as table grapes. Wines made from it are characterized as light and refreshing, with pronounced acidity and mineral notes. The grapes are also used to create blends and dessert wines, in particular, prošek.
The plant belongs to mid-late varieties and possesses moderate resistance to fungal diseases. Characteristic features of the variety are sensitivity to adverse weather conditions and a tendency for flower/berry drop. Its historical region of origin is Dalmatia.
The variety has many local names, among which the most common is Trbljan. There is confusion where the name Kuč is erroneously attributed in some sources to the red variety Lasina, therefore in the context of white wines it is more often identified with the variety Trbljan.
