The variety belongs to the Vitis vinifera species and is intended for wine production. The letter "T" in the name indicates that it is a variety with dark berries (tinto). Genetically, the variety is the result of a cross between Mourisco Branco and Cainho da Terra.
This grape is cultivated in Portugal, mainly in the Douro and Setúbal Peninsula wine regions. The variety is local and rarely appears in detailed agronomic descriptions, featuring primarily in official registries of wine grape varieties permitted for cultivation.
