The variety is autochthonous to the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, originating from the Lima River valley. It was genetically obtained through the natural crossing of the Amaral and Branco Escola varieties. The vine is vigorous with semi-erect shoots and hermaphroditic flowers. The leaves are medium-sized, heart-shaped, with arachnoid pubescence on the underside.
The clusters are large, cylindrical or cylindrical-conical, and medium-dense. The berries are medium-sized, round or oval in shape, and yellowish-green when ripe. The variety is adapted to a humid Atlantic climate and is distinguished by regular high yields, although it shows susceptibility to downy mildew and Botrytis.
Wines from this variety possess fresh acidity and moderate alcohol content. The aromatic profile includes notes of laurel, acacia, linden blossom, citrus, green apple, and peach. Due to the wines' tendency toward premature oxidation, a carbon dioxide addition technique is often employed during bottling.
