The variety is a wine grape and is genetically related to the Tribidrag variety. Wines made from it possess full body, an alcohol content of 12–14%, low acidity, and a slight bitterness in the aftertaste.
It is characterized by a functionally female flower type, which requires the mandatory planting of pollinator varieties such as Plavac mali or Rukatac. Inconsistent pollination leads to the formation of berries of varying sizes within the clusters.
The variety is adapted to the sandy and dry soils of the Lumbarda region. Its cultivation is limited primarily to the territory of Dalmatia.
