Variety description

10 August 2026

Imperial Napoleon is a natural hybrid of the variety Akhladi. It is a table variety of mid-to-mid-late maturity with a hermaphrodite flower. The leaf is rounded, five-lobed, without pubescence. Clusters are large, cylindrical, branched, loose or of medium density. Berries are very large, oval, pink, with a firm skin, a thick waxy bloom, and juicy, fleshy pulp. The variety is characterized by low yield, a tendency to ovary shedding, and susceptibility to fungal diseases and frost.

The Hungarian table variety Bonaparte Napoleon was obtained by crossing Sauter Gustav and Matyas Janos. It ripens in the first ten days of September, has medium-sized dense cylindrical clusters, and red berries with a muscat aroma. The hybrid form Bonaparte by S. E. Gusev is a vigorous plant of early or early-mid maturity. Clusters weigh up to 1 kg or more, berries are pink-crimson weighing up to 16–20 g. Disease resistance is about 3 points, frost resistance is down to -23...-24°C.
