The Ovnek Žuti variety, which translates to "yellow ram," got its name due to the shape of the bunch, which resembles a ram's head or its horns. The bunch has a cylindrical-pyramidal shape with two characteristic wings in the upper part and is distinguished by its looseness, which has a favorable effect on the aeration of the berries.

The plant has vigorous growth. Reddish-purple spots appear on the skin of fully ripe berries. The variety shows less sensitivity to diseases compared to many other varieties, however, it has a tendency to ovary shedding, which reduces fertility.

The berries are used exclusively for winemaking, allowing for the production of fresh, aromatic white wines with fruit notes. Historically, the variety is an autochthon of the Moslavina region in Croatia, where work on its clonal selection is currently being carried out to preserve the quality of planting material.
