The variety is autochthonous to the border zone of Spain and Portugal and belongs to the category of minor or forgotten varieties, often found as vines over 100 years old. It is a synonym for the variety Rabigato.
Morphologically, the variety is characterized by the presence of large, dense bunches and small, uniform berries with thin, yellowish-green skin. The crop is capable of surviving on poor soils and possesses high natural acidity of the berries.
Used exclusively for the production of white wines, which possess good structure, pronounced minerality, and aromas of white flowers, pear, citrus, fennel, and herbs. Analysis of the pomace composition confirms a high content of pectin polysaccharides.
