The group of varieties includes forms with different berry skin colors: black, red, and white. Genetic studies confirm that some forms may be somatic mutants of a single cultivar. The variety is also known under the synonyms Colgadero and Tinto Quiebratingas.

The variety is used primarily as a wine grape, but there are mentions of its use as a table grape. It is rare in commercial viticulture, preserved mainly as a genetic resource in old plantings. Ampelographic characteristics vary depending on the clone.
