Rabo de Anho is an autochthonous wine grape variety originating from the Portuguese Vinho Verde region, specifically from the Basto subregion. The name of the variety translates as "lamb's tail" and characterizes the appearance of its long and thin bunches.
The variety belongs to the mid-late maturity group. Wines based on it are distinguished by aromas of red berries, such as strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry. The plant is sensitive to unfavorable phytosanitary conditions and is susceptible to downy mildew.
In literature, the variety is sometimes mistakenly identified with the Rabo de Ovelha variety, however, these are different types. The suffix "T" or "Tinto" in the name is used to denote the red color of the berries to distinguish the variety from white-berried varieties with similar names.
