Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is an ancient grape that is not the result of targeted breeding, but was used as a parent form for the creation of the Agorra, Arriloba, and Perdea varieties. Genetically, it differs from the Arrufiac variety, with which it is often confused.

The plant belongs to the mid-season varieties with high yield. The bunches are small to medium in size and have a loose structure; the berries are small and round. The leaves are three-lobed, wedge-shaped or kidney-shaped. The variety shows resistance to powdery mildew and has one clone certified in France, No. 465.

The purpose of the variety is the production of white wines, predominantly in blends, for the Béarn and Tursan appellations. The resulting wines are characterized by moderate to low acidity, high alcohol content, and aromas of pear, apple, melon, and flowers.
