The variety is of ancient origin, which has not been reliably established. It belongs to wine grape varieties and is characterized by a late maturity group.

The plant is distinguished by winter hardiness, drought tolerance, and resistance to gray mold (Botrytis cinerea). Wines produced from this grape possess a neutral aromatic profile and low alcohol content.
