The variety is a wine grape used for the production of white wines, which possess a fresh taste with high acidity and notes of lemon. It was first documented in 1844 in the work of Matija Vertovec, "Vinoreja za Slovence."
It belongs to the group of early or mid-early varieties. The name Vitovska grganja, of which Racuk is a synonym, is associated with the characteristic of the shoots, which in winter acquire a shine similar to glass and become brittle. The variety requires standard care and does not possess specific high resistance to diseases.
