The variety is of Portuguese origin, and its genetic parents are the variety Cayetana Blanca and an unknown variety. The name of the variety translates as "cat's tail" due to the elongated shape of the bunches. The plant has medium vigor.

The variety is classified as a wine grape and is valued for creating wines with aromas of citrus, lemon, and orange blossom, possessing good structure and aging potential. The variety is susceptible to downy mildew and gray mold.
